Family Snow Day 2017 - Frog Lake, Oregon

After changing our plans last minute due to flight cancellations in San Diego, our Family Snow Day 2017 took place on Sunday. We had only ten of us this year with family from San Diego, CA and Reno, NV joining us. The weather was perfect with partly cloudy skies and a temperature around freezing much of the day.We had sun breaks and snow showers.

Nathan and I drove up early before everyone else, to set up for the day. We arrived at Frog Lake SnoPark just as it was getting light around 6:45 am. It had been nearly white-out conditions on the drive up, but the snow subsided by the time we parked. It was shaping up to be a great day. We were just about done getting the tent setup when Katie, Valerie, Julian, and Jessica arrived.

While we were waiting for the others to show up, I took Nathan and Jessica on a snowmobile ride to Clear Lake Lookout Tower. It was fun, but kinda bumpy for Jessica who was riding on the back of one of my snowmobiles. Everything was great until we were just about back. I was planning on taking them down to see Frog Lake, but the turn was a little too sharp and I watch in slow motion and Nathan an Jessica rolled off the trail. Luckily no one was hurt and my snowmobile appeared to be fine. A very gracious group of snowshoers came by and offered to help. With their assistance we were able to write the upside down snowmobile and ride/tow it off the side of the hill. Piece of cake. I always love seeing the good in people.

By the time we arrived back at camp, everyone else was arriving. Perfect timing. Soon we were all having a blast playing in the snow. Nathan impressed us (especially Julian) with his snowball juggling act. Julian always tries to get me to juggle (very poorly I might add) so it was cool for him to see real juggling.

Everyone had a great day. It was a smaller crowd this year, but the weather was perfect.
