Family snowmobile adventure near Lookout Mountain
Katie and I both took Friday off to celebrate my birthday up in the snow. We had hoped to go snow camping, but the weather was not looking good overnight (rain in the forecast instead of snow). We ended up going snowmobiling for the day near Lookout Mountain (same place we were two weeks ago).
Julian was excited like always. I think he loves the snow as much as I do. There was not enough snow at Little John sno park, so we drove up the road to about 4,600' in elevation and found a spot to pull off the road and unload the snowmobiles. There was about 6 inches of snow.
We rode about 4 miles up the road to High Prairie at the base of Lookout Mountain where we had parked our car just two weeks ago. There was now 2-3 feet of snow up here.I love to see the snow piling up. We played in the snow for awhile at the top and I took a short ride down the road a bit further.
Julian wanted to ride his sled, so we head back down to our truck. On our way down we ran into my friend Kyle who was coming up to snow camp for the weekend with some of his extended family.
Katie and I took turns pulling Julian on his sled. He loves his sled. And he is getting better at throwing snowballs too. The snow was perfect down lower and he was able to throw head sized snow balls at us. What a fun way to spend my birthday. Thanks Julian and Katie. I love you two.
