Snowmobiling around Mt Hood, Oregon
I took my brother-in-law Scott snowmobiling Saturday near Mt Hood. We unloaded from Frog Lake SnoPark and had beautiful weather. The temperature started just below freezing and warmed into the upper 30's. The trails were packed snow with consolidated snow off trail.
First we rode over up to the back side of Frog Lake Buttes to play on the hill over there. Since the sun was out, we could see Mt Hood and the top of Mt Jefferson briefly.
Next we snowmobiled down to the Old Barlow Road near Barlow Crossing campground. A short distance down the trail we encountered a creek running across the road. We decided to ride across and then a little further down the trail we found another creek. This time it was running along the road for as far as we could see. We decided to turn around and headed up road 48 toward White River.
We stopped at White River snopark and walked across the highway to get a view of Mt Hood. It was beautiful. It's great to see so much snow.
Before heading back, we grabbed Scott's drone and played around with it for a little while near Frog Lake snopark. If the weather cooperates next weekend, Scott is going to use his drone to film our family snow day trip. Fingers crossed.
Scott compiled the short video below illustrating the awesome snowmobile conditions we enjoyed.
