Camping and Fishing at Juanita Lake, California

We were lucky enough to coordinate a camping trip with my cousin Ryan and his family at Juanita Lake, California. The campground is located roughly equidistant between my cousin who lives in California and us up in Oregon. Juanita Lake is about 45 minutes South of Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Ryan and his family arrived on Wednesday and saved us a camping spot. We arrived Friday early afternoon by which time the campground was full. Juanita Lake campground is a gorgeous well maintained forest service campground. There are vault toilets and water available. The road and camping spots are paved. There is also a paved walking trail around the lake.

It had been almost a year since we had all been together, so we spent much of Friday catching up while the kids played together. Their middle son is just one year older than Julian and the two of them became fast friends.

On Saturday morning Ryan and I went fishing. We caught several nice rainbow trout, the biggest around 18-20 inches (Ryan caught it).

On Sunday Ryan and I fished again in the morning. We did pretty good once again. This time I caught the big fish (close to 20" again).

We had a fun time swimming in the lake and walking the trail around the lake too.

We will definitely be back to Juanita Lake. It is a beautiful family friendly campground with great fishing too.
