Camping and Fishing at Devil's Lake State Park, Oregon
After a disappointing several months looking for a new home, we finally made time to go camping with our one year old Mini-Adventurer. Katie and I decided to celebrate our 10 year anniversary with our son while staying in a yurt at Devil's Lake State Park near Lincoln City, Oregon. Normally we camp in a tent or our trailer, but decided to try something different. This was our first time in one of the many yurts available in campgrounds across Oregon.
Devil's Lake State Park is just a few minutes north of Lincoln City right off Hwy 101. In addition to yurts, the campground has full hook-up RV sites as well as tent sites. It's another great campground that is part of the Oregon State Park system, complete with flush toilets and showers.
Since check-in wasn't until 4 PM, we hit the beach shortly after arriving in Lincoln City Sunday afternoon. Like normal, the wind was blowing down on the beach.
The tide was out, so we were able to explore many tide pools while chasing our Mini-Adventurer around.
Eventually we grew sick of the wind and headed to Devil's Lake State Park to check-in.
The yurt was quite roomy and we made ourselves comfortable.
After enjoying a snack we walked down to Devil's lake to try our luck at some trout fishing. Before long I landed a legal size rainbow trout. This was the first time Julian had seen me catch a fish. I wonder if he was eying the fish as dinner like I was.
Back at camp we tried to relax around the campfire, but our Mini-Adventurer can't sit still for too long. He sure keeps us on our toes!
Before heading home Monday, we stopped at Regatta Park (also on Devil's Lake). Julian enjoyed playing on the huge play structure before our drive home.
We had a fun time together on our trip to the coast. It's hard to believe we have been married for 10 years now and our little one is one. Nothing but fun times ahead!
