Camping at Milo McIver State Park, Oregon

After being dry for months, the weather couldn't wait any longer despite our plans to go camping at Milo McIver State Park over the weekend. It rained all day Friday and wouldn't even let up as we packed to leave Friday evening. Luckily McIver State Park is nearby. It's our first time camping so close to home. Milo McIver State Park is located along the Clackamas River about 45 minutes from Portland, Oregon. The campground features 44 electrical sites with water, which is great for RVs.

We hit traffic Friday evening so it took us about an hour to arrive at the campground. It was just getting dark. Katie had the honored job of standing in the rain and guiding me back into our site. It's always harder in the dark and rain just adds to the fun.

After getting the trailer leveled we quickly retreated inside. We cuddled up and watch a movie while listening to the rain outside. It rained most of the night.

There were only a few scattered light showers Saturday, so I took the opportunity to sweep around our awning. My parents, grandpa, niece, and nephew were going to stop by that evening with dinner, so I wanted it to be a little cleaner for them.

Katie forgot something and had to run home (the plus to being so close), so I lounged in the trailer and watched the news. It was a nice change of pace from our normal adventures. We ended up spending the whole day in the trailer watching movies and relaxing.

My family showed up around 7 pm and all 7 of us managed to comfortably fit into our 18' trailer. We enjoyed dinner and lots of laughs. My niece and nephew were as goofy as ever.

The rain stayed away Sunday morning as packed up to go home. The weather ended up not being too bad aside from Friday. Even with the wet conditions, the campground was half full, which surprised us. I suppose its close proximity to town makes it popular no matter what the weather is doing. Next time we'll have to get out and explore the park!
