Skiing at Timberline - Mt Hood, Oregon

After climbing Mt Hood Saturday (we didn't quite make it due to weather conditions) and re-energizing with lunch at the Cascade Dining Room in Timberline Lodge, I went downhill skiing for a couple hours at Timberline Ski Area before they closed for the day. My friend Jordan from work had been skiing all day at Timberline, so we met up at lunch before hitting the slopes. As I was climbing down Mt Hood early in the day, I had passed Jordan at the bottom of the Palmer chairlift where he boarded a snow cat headed for the top of the Palmer lift (the lift doesn't run in the winter and early spring due to heavy snow burying the towers and lift house).

The weather was beautifully sunny with light winds and temperatures ranging from the upper 20's to mid 30's depending on elevation. The runs were packed snow with wetter snow below the lodge and frozen snow above.

We managed to ski eight runs before close. I was able to ski Magic Mile several times which is nice, since it is often closed due to poor weather as it was last weekend. It was a great way to end the day. Even though I had only a few hours of sleep before heading up to the mountain at 12:30 AM, I didn't feel too tired. I love being outside and always figure I'll have plenty of time to sleep when I'm dead.
