Sunrise Run on the Beach - Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
Katie and I arrived in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico yesterday afternoon for a much-needed vacation in the sun. We have friends getting married here on Friday and have been looking forward to the trip.
I decided to get an early start to our first full day by waking up at 5:30 AM to go run on the beach at sunrise. This was my first run since injuring my knee (just found out last week that I will, in fact, need surgery) and also my first time running barefoot.
The beach was quiet this morning with only a few others out. It was a beautiful sunrise. I only ran about two miles, but enjoyed every step of the way. It felt great to be able to run again.
It quickly warmed up as the sun rose higher in the sky. A few more people started venturing out onto the soft white coral sand beach as I headed back toward our resort. This is going to be a great week!
